Grant Writing and Administration
The Commission’s staff can prepare and write grant applications for member entities. This service is normally provided on a cost-reimbursable basis. Should an application not be funded and the local entity wishes to re-file the application, normally there is little or no additional charge. The staff is quite familiar with grant requirements, especially in relation to environmental clearances and historic preservation requirements.
Many times member entities request Commission assistance in the administration of grants received due to the member’s lack of staff time and/or expertise in dealing with grant requirements. In many cases, the administrative services are paid for with grant funds. The Commission has a Grant Administrator on staff who regularly attends training to stay current with various grant requirements.
As notices of state and federal grant opportunities are received in the Commission’s offices, notice is forwarded to member entities. Grant availability notices are received regularly from the Missouri Community Development Block Grant Program, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (water, sewer, parks and recreation, etc.), the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U. S. Economic Development Administration, the Delta Regional Authority, the U. S. Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U. S. Department of Justice program (for law enforcement projects), the Missouri Department of Conservation, as well as other state and federal agencies.
